Just as with sharing accounts, sharing opportunities with your partner via PartnerTap eliminates the need to send open opportunity details back and forth through spreadsheets and email.
Providing real-time visibility into opportunity data doesn’t only make things administratively easier, it’s a critical next step in co-selling to keep everyone on the same page on their co-sell opportunities. Opportunity sharing allows partners to track pipeline to see real-time changes on the opportunities that have been shared with them. This means both sides can have better forecasting, can proactively help each other if there is a major deal to get across the line, and make (and receive) fewer calls for updates.
Similar to “Account Share Settings” you have complete control over the exact opportunities and details within them that you share with each partner. “Opportunity Share Settings” use three rules settings to define what you share.
Record scope | Pick the “scope” of opportunity records you want to share. Examples: all opportunities, only open opps, only opps on matched accounts, and others. |
Which columns | Choose which columns of data you want to share with this partner. |
Custom filters | Narrow down the criteria for which type of opportunity records you share with custom filters. |
Step-by-step instructions
To set your opportunity share settings go to:
- The left-hand side menu and select “PARTNERS” > “CONNECTED”. You should be on your “CONNECTED PARTNERS” page.
- Select the partner you’re ready to share data with by clicking “VIEW” on their tile.
- From the “PARTNER DETAILS” dashboard page, select the “SHARE” sub-navigation tab.
- On the “OPPORTUNITIES” tile, use the “SCOPE” dropdown to select the scope of opportunities you’d like to share. The scope defines the criteria for the opportunities you want to share. You can click on the question mark next to the sharing scopes field to see more details about each option.
- From the “COLUMNS” picklist, select the set of columns (fields of data) you’d like to share with this partner. You can have many more columns of data inside PartnerTap, but your administrator defines which columns may be shared with partners and you select from those options here.
- Decide whether or not you want to limit the opportunities you share with advanced filters (e.g. apply a filter so you are only sharing opportunities that are tied to this partner, in a specific stage, above a certain probability to close, etc.).
- When you’ve finalized your opportunity sharing rules, click the blue “UPDATE SHARING” button to apply those sharing rules to this partner.
